John F. Floyd, Sr. :

John F. Floyd, Sr. John Floyd has been a trial lawyer since 1990, trying 72 jury trials (business/professional negligence) to verdict.  In addition, he has tried numerous cases before state regulatory boards and judges throughout Tennessee.  He is certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and a Medical Malpractice Specialist by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. Mr. Floyd’s practice focuses on the representation of professionals and negligence cases and business and corporate litigation throughout the United States. He has represented clients in various types of business/commercial and personal injury cases, including wrongful death claims, as well as cases involving the Lanham Act, civil conspiracy, intellectual property, partnership dissolution, product liability, and derivative shareholder actions. Commercial and business litigation cases have included the successful representation of Fox Broadcasting Company in a “reverse passing off” case involving NASCAR, Atlanta Motor Speedway, and Speedway Motor Sports arising out of the televised 2001 Atlanta Motor Speedway 500. Furthermore, Mr. Floyd has represented clients in legal matters involving off-label use of drug devices and pharmaceuticals and Medicare and Medicaid billing/reimbursement issues. He also has extensive experience in the representation of chiropractic physicians in numerous states throughout the United States.

Mr. Floyd received his Bachelor of Arts Degree, with Honors, from the University of Tennessee in 1987. He subsequently received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence Degree in 1990 from the University Of Tennessee College Of Law, where he was a Member of the National Trial Team. He is a member of several organizations including the Federation of Defense in Corporate Counsel, Professional Liability Defense Federation, and Litigation Counsel of America. 

Mr. Floyd has received several honorary distinctions in his career, including nomination and recognition in the National Publication of Mid-South Super Lawyers (Business and Corporate Litigation) every year since 2006, which recognizes attorneys who have achieved substantial success in their careers.  He has also received the highest attorney rating (AV) from Martindale-Hubbell, which is “a testament to the fact that lawyers and peers rank him at the highest level of professional excellence.”

Mr. Floyd is admitted to practice before all state trial appellate courts, the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts of Tennessee, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.  He is also been admitted Pro-Hac Vice in Kentucky, Florida, New Jersey, California, Washington State, Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, South Carolina, and the District of Columbia.
